Blackjack Switch

Blackjack Switch Online is an immensely variant of Blackjack. In fact, if you are tired of getting poor hands when you play standard Blackjack, as many people are, then this may be just the game for you. Here, I want to walk you through what Blackjack Switch is before we then dive a little into the playing strategies. 

The History of Blackjack Switch

Blackjack Switch all began with a chap who was a card counter. Yep. The game that many casinos use is a game invented by somebody who many casinos hate. Anyway, you can’t always win when you are card counting. You can try, but it is never going to happen. The guy who invented Blackjack Switch knew this. Whenever he played, he would be given two weak hands. He knew that he would stand a much better chance of winning the game if he was able to swap cards over between the hands but, of course, that is not allowed in a game of Blackjack…so he invented the game and showed it off to casinos in Las Vegas back in 2000. Very quickly, it started to become a popular game used by many casinos in the area. It has gone through a few rule modifications since, and even a couple of different variants, but you will probably want to start off with basic blackjack switch online before you dive into that. 

How is the Game Played?

There will be either four, six, or eight standard decks of cards that are shuffled together. The online casino should tell you the number of decks. Of course, if you are not playing blackjack switch online and in a real casino instead, then you will know how many cards are in play.

The setup of the table is much the same as standard blackjack. The only real exception is that instead of one betting box you will have two. When you are placing your initial bet, the money that you put into each of these boxes needs to be identical. That is going to change as play goes on…hopefully. When the first deal occurs, the dealer will begin by placing one card face up in each of the boxes. The dealer will then deal themselves a face-up card. The next cards will then be dealt to each of the betting boxes.

The player will resolve their side bets if they have any. After that, the dealer gives the player the option to switch their cards if they wish. This only applies to the top cards. They do not need to do it. Once that is done, the player is given the opportunity to hit, stand, or double, much in the same way as standard blackjack, so I am not going to bore you with the details on that one.

Blackjack Switch Strategy

I have produced plenty of guides on basic blackjack strategy elsewhere on this website. This means that, instead, we are just going to talk about the whole switch decision.

In most cases, it should always be obvious as to whether you should switch or not. If one hand is in a better position if you do, and this will come from the knowledge that you have about blackjack, then you should be good to go. However, in some cases, there will be a borderline decision where you need to work out whether switching is in your best interests. Honestly, your best bet here is to go for whatever preserves the best hand or forms a new hand. 

If you have learned basic blackjack strategy, and I am going to assume you have because blackjack switch online should not be the first time you ever play blackjack, then you will know what the right decision to make is. You will know which hand gives you the biggest chance of winning. Remember; it is unlikely that you are going to win on both of your hands, but the chances of winning on one of them should be high if you get your playing strategy down to a tee.
